SMART
Board Notebook Pages:
Belief
Statement:
I believe that
children learn through social constructivism and so when I
prepare SMART Board activities for my classroom, I look for ways
to have children engage with print and concepts in meaningful ways.
I believe that the highest level of motivation comes from
creating
content related to their
interests and linked to emergent projects. Because each choice or response
must be negotiated and tested, it has a
different level of thinking and engagement - that is, there
is a right answer - but there must be negotiation and
thinking to find it. This is so different from the
traditional work sheet. These pages are like creating
hands-on activities or games for children through an
emergent technology.
Types of
Notebook Pages:
The type of
center I create is dependent on the skills of the children.
Most of the items in Lesson Activity Toolkit are user
friendly for young children and they quickly explore and
engage by trial and error or with minimal teacher
scaffolding. Some of my favorite ones are Pairs, the word
guesses, vortex sorts, and image matches. These give
children a chance to extend their learning. |
